Breathe Easy Shelby County believes everyone deserves to breathe smoke-free air. Our goal is to pass a comprehensive smoke-free air policy for Shelby County so that all employees can exercise their right to breathe smoke-free air at work.

Secondhand smoke contains more than 40 cancer-causing substances. Breathing secondhand smoke increases your risk of heart disease and lung cancer.

An estimated 1,426 Hoosiers die each year from secondhand smoke exposure.
There is no safe level of secondhand smoke exposure.
Even brief exposure to secondhand smoke is harmful.
Ventilation may reduce some of the smell, but not the harmful chemicals.
It is more than an annoyance
